Connected DMV congratulates DC for the recent launch of DC COVID Alert Notice (DC CAN). This system alerts mobile device users when they may have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Along with Virginia’s COVIDWISE Exposure Notifications app, our regional leaders are progressing towards solutions that help protect our community while also protecting individual privacy. We also applaud the tireless work of our Public Health officials to enable the delivery of critical information to its residents while instilling rigorous data protection standards. Exposure notification services and information must now become ubiquitous and shared seamlessly across the DMV. As we face another rise in COVID-19 case numbers, we must integrate solutions across Maryland, DC, and Virginia to accurately accommodate how work, life, and school happen within our region. Connected DMV continues to work with public, private, academic, and community leaders to help achieve this goal. These exposure notification applications work best as more people participate.
